PDU Removal and Installation

All electrical work should be performed by a qualified and licensed professional in accordance with local codes and safety regulations.

Removal of old PDU

1) Turn off miner load following site preferences for the miners connected to the PDU

2) Turn off and unplug miners based on site procedures

3) Turn off individual miner breakers on the PDU
4) Remove all miner power cables from PDU

5) Turn off the breaker for the PDU

Each PDU has a number that is associated to the breaker

6) Test PDU to ensure no power at the outlet

Turn on 1 individual miner breaker and test for power at the outlet with multimeter or other device

If socket is live, please stop work immediately and submit a ticket to: https://customers.gigaenergy.com/support. Wait for response before proceeding.

7)  Test PDU to ensure no power at the bus bar

Remove 2 Phillips screws holding the access panel cover

    • Use multimeter or other device

7) Remove access panel on end of PDU using a Phillips head screw driver to access the 2 mounting screws (DO NOT remove mounting screws yet)

8)  Remove the 

 

      1. If bus bar is live, please stop work immediately and submit a ticket to: https://customers.gigaenergy.com/support. Wait for response before proceeding.
  • Disconnect feeder wires from bus bar
    1. Remove nuts and washers terminating feeder wires

  • Remove PDU from rack (Once screws are removed, ensure PDU does not fall)
    1. Remove 4 mounting screws (2 screws per side)
      1. Photo
    2. Carefully remove PDU ensuring the feeder wires are not damaged

 

 

Installation of new PDU

 

  • Mount PDU to rack with the 4 mounting screws (2 screws per side)
    1. Ensure the feeder wires are inserted into the PDU

  • Reconnect feeder wires to bus bar
    1. Reconnect order
      1. Ground (inside PDU) > Ground (external PDU) > Closest to middle of PDU and work your way towards the end
    2. Torque spec needed
    3. Photo
    4. Terminate feeder wires with the recently removed nuts and washers
  • Install access panel on front side of PDU
    1. Insert the 2 screws attaching the panel to the PDU

  • Turn on the breaker for the PDU
    1. Each PDU has a number that is associated to the breaker
    2. Photo
  • Test PDU to ensure power at the outlet
    1. Turn on 1 individual miner breaker and test for power with multimeter or other device

      2. If no power, recheck terminations on PDU bus bar
        1. If still no power, please submit a ticket to: https://customers.gigaenergy.com/support
  • Turn on individual miner breakers on the PDU

  • Plug in and turn on miners based on site procedures
